Rod Of Testimony

Updated: Jan 25

In Exodus 14:13-14, Moses declared the Israelites shouldn’t be afraid, then promises God’s Salvation - a prophesy if ever there was one. Yet, one verse later, God asks ‘Why do you cry to Me?’

Moses boldly spoke of victory one minute and was in fear the next. Life is like that sometimes. One minute we speak boldly, the next we’re a quivering wreck. God tells Moses to lift up his ‘rod of testimony’ and extend his other arm to part the sea. Moses’ rod of testimony obscured his view of the unparted waters. The Rod was full of historic carvings of God’s faithfulness in Moses’ life. God was reminding him of his own testimony, to build the faith he needed to overcome the trial ahead.

In life we sometimes need to sit down and recount God’s past goodness to us, giving us faith to overcome the circumstance we face today.

Quote

Father, help us to remember all the times you have come through for us, and help me to know I have a future, Amen.

Spend an evening writing down all of the things God has come through on in your life, you will be so encouraged, your faith will build for any trial ahead.
