Loneliness

Updated: Jan 25

It’s weird that despite being more connected to people than ever through social media sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, people are feeling more isolated and lonelier than ever before. Of course, Covid hasn’t helped, with huge swathes of the population having to isolate, without any physical contact with family or friends for months on end.

We can take solace in Isaiah 41:10, which says, ‘So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand’. For sure God will always be with us, regardless of circumstance.

In our busy world, make sure to phone, write, text, or spend physical time with the people that matter to you. Tell them you how much you value them, it will make a difference to them and also to you.

Quote You defeat loneliness by pushing yourself to connect with others.

Prayer Father, thank you for being near me, help me to support and connect with others around me, Amen.

Action Point If you are feeling lonely today, it’s OK to ring someone, or join an interest group to meet new people.
