Forgive Yourself

Updated: Jan 25

Romans 8:1 says ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus’ (NIV).

When the bible is clear about forgiveness, why is it that we often find it so difficult to forgive ourselves. One of the toughest journeys in life is the lonely road of self-guilt and isolation after we do something wrong and then spend the next decade beating ourselves up about it.

We should remember that Jesus went to the cross, to wipe away all our sin, to give us a clean slate for the future. The important thing is to make sure we learn from the mistakes we make. A harsh word spoken might well have caused hurt, but people get over things. It’s in the morning hours when we wonder why we did such things, beyond that let the issue go - we need to forgive ourselves and get on with it.

Quote The handcuffs of unforgiveness will imprison your mind, let it go.

Prayer Father, if you have forgiven us, help us to forgive ourselves by the example you set, Amen.

Action point
