Arguments

Updated: Feb 6

Some people hate arguing and others seem to relish it. Most of the time when an argument flares up, it’s not about the issue, but a frustration with something else. There is usually always something behind the something! If we could find a way of dealing with that background frustration, the pointless exercise of arguing would likely stop.

Ephesians 4:25-32 says that we ‘should not let the sun go down on our wrath’, that we should ‘be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you’.

This portion of scripture is some of the most solid advice we’ll ever get. So, if you do argue, don’t go to sleep with unresolved issues that cause stress and pain, forgive that person. You will feel better for it; who knows, if you forgive more than you argue, life might be a bit brighter all around.

Quote

Arguing: wasting time and energy doing something pointless.

Prayer

Lord, teach me how not to be angry and to have a tender heart and a forgiving tongue, Amen.

Action Point Try to love your way through the tough talk and love each other on the other side.
