Cherishing Friendship

Updated: Feb 8

It’s often been said that you will only carry a handful of friendships through the whole of your adult life. Some may move, get married and lose touch; others may pass away.

The second part of Proverbs 27:9 says ‘…a sweet friendship refreshes the soul.’ (MSG) how true that is. We should not overlook or take for granted the friendships the Lord has afforded us over time.

If you are able to show appreciation to a friendship, do it. It will be a blessing to that person and acknowledges that come what may, the circumstance of life only makes the friendship deeper not more distant. Like any relationship, friendships do take some work. If you have had a disagreement with a friend, forgive, love them through it and move on. It is little and meaningful things which allow the friendship to flourish. God made us to be a friend.

Quote

Disagreements should last for a moment, friendships, a lifetime.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank you that I can cherish my friends, help them to know how much I appreciate them. Amen.

Action Point If you haven’t spoken to someone for a while, pick up the phone today, you’ll both benefit from it.
