Spiritual Gift - Word of Knowledge

Updated: Feb 11

When Jesus spoke to the Samaritan woman at Jacob’s well in John 4, her response to what He said was startling. She said to her friends in verses 29 & 30 ‘Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him.’ (NIV)

Jesus spoke a word of knowledge to her, something about her past, which only she might have known. It certainly caught her attention enough to know that she was having an encounter with Christ.

A word of knowledge (outlined in 1 Corinthians 12:8, is often used as a proof gift, which is closely associated to A word of wisdom, another gift mentioned. When God speaks through someone to you, your attention is grabbed, then listen to what is said from there, it’s meant to build you up for your encouragement.

Quote

Words of knowledge build you, they don’t kill you.

Prayer

Lord, help me be bold enough to speak out what You might be saying to someone through me. Amen.

Action Point

People often keep a diary of the things God has said to them, if you do, reflect on it.
