Ephesians 4:32 says, ‘Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.’ (NIV) It is important to show kindness and compassion towards others, extending forgiveness as God has forgiven us through Christ. By embracing a heart of forgiveness, we break the chains of resentment and bitterness, letting love thrive.
Living in forgiveness means letting go of grudges and releasing the pain caused by others. The reciprocal nature of forgiveness reminds us of the importance of extending grace to others. Make sure you treat others through forgiveness how you would like to be treated yourself.
Living in forgiveness also involves seeking reconciliation and restoration when possible. While reconciliation may not always be possible or appropriate in every situation. As you read this, you may already know one or two people you struggle to forgive. It’s time to make peace and move on.
Quote Resentment is a chain to a hurt part; forgiveness is a signpost to a bright future.
Prayer
Father, help my heart if I struggle to forgive; I pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Action Point
Use today as the day when you forgive. You may need to contact the person or just bring them to God in prayer, do it; you have nothing to lose.
