The gift of discerning of spirits is an ability given by the Holy Spirit that enables believers to recognise and discern the presence and nature of positive and negative spiritual forces at work.

1 Corinthians 12:10 describes this gift: "To another [is given] the working of miracles, to another prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], and to another discernment of spirits [the ability to distinguish sound, godly doctrine from the deceptive doctrine of evil spirits].” (AMP)

This gift empowers us to distinguish between what is of God and what is not. It allows them to identify false teachings, deceptive spirits, and the presence of evil influences. This gift is crucial in safeguarding the church and ensuring sound doctrine and spiritual integrity. Don’t forget; because you can discern, you shouldn’t use that to your advantage; it's to help people and grow God’s Kingdom.
