The Turin Shroud

Updated: Feb 17

The Turin Shroud is one of history's most debated and analysed Christian artefacts. This linen cloth bears a faint image of a man who has suffered physical trauma in a manner consistent with crucifixion. Many believe this to be the burial cloth of Jesus Christ, pointing to its apparent correlation with the Gospel accounts of Jesus's death and burial.

John 20:5-7 (NIV), says, "the strips of linen lying there, as well as the cloth that had been wrapped around Jesus' head." While this provides a biblical basis for a burial cloth, there's no explicit link to the Turin Shroud.

The shroud's history and its potential connection to Jesus make it significant. Various scientific and historical investigations have been undertaken, suggesting the Shroud is a powerful reminder of Christ's suffering and sacrifice for all of us. Even in death, the cloth surrounding Christ points the world to salvation in Him.

Quote Even His burial cloth points the world to Him.
