Relationships, whether with friends, family, or work colleagues, can often lead to moments of disagreement or misunderstanding. In such times, forgiveness becomes paramount. As Ephesians 4:31-32 (NIV) advises, "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
The idea of 'water under the bridge' encapsulates this wisdom beautifully. It suggests the fluidity of life and the inevitable passage of time. Holding onto grudges or resentment only hampers our emotional and spiritual growth, diverting us from our true purpose.
When we forgive, we're not just releasing the other person from the weight of their error but also freeing ourselves from the burden of bitterness. In doing so, we reflect the forgiving nature of God and allow room for healing and the flourishing of our relationships.
Quote
Sometimes in life, you have to let go of bitterness to move forward.
Prayer
Lord, show me who and how to forgive, in Your name. Amen.
Action Point
You may have held onto bitterness over something for years, isn’t it time to let it go and move on in life?
