Like everyone who walks this earth, leaders are not immune to temptation. Three significant temptations that can lead astray include the lure of money, the temptation of sexual sin, and the pursuit of personal glory.
1 Timothy 6:10 (ESV) warns, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs." We can’t take wealth with us.
Similarly, avoiding the temptation of sexual sin requires maintaining boundaries and active accountability. As for the allure of personal glory, leaders must remember that their role is to point others to Christ, not to themselves. Humility and a servant's heart are crucial, emphasising glorifying God above all else. By staying rooted in prayer, scripture, and accountability, leaders can navigate these temptations, ensuring they focus on serving God and their congregation faithfully.
