The Role Of Discernment

Updated: Feb 22

In 1 Corinthians 12:10 (NIV), Paul lists discernment among the spiritual gifts we know: "to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues."

Applying discernment daily helps us recognise God's guidance and avoid potential pitfalls. It sharpens our spiritual senses, enabling us to see beyond the surface and understand the more profound implications of our choices. This clarity is crucial in a world filled with conflicting messages and influences, ensuring we remain aligned with God's will.

Cultivating discernment involves prayer, studying the Bible, and seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance. Doing so makes us more attuned to God's voice and better equipped to navigate life's complexities. This gift protects us and empowers us to support others, provide wise counsel, and foster a community grounded in truth and integrity.
