Sklerokardia

Updated: Feb 23

The term "sklerokardia" refers to the hardness of the heart, a condition that can create a significant barrier between us and God. When our hearts harden, we close ourselves to God’s voice and guidance. In Mark 10:5 (NIV), Jesus says, "It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law.” Have you seen that before?

A hard heart prevents us from fully experiencing God’s love, making us resist His correction and guidance. It can lead to spiritual blindness, where we fail to see God’s work in our lives and the lives of others. This distance can grow if unchecked, affecting our faith and relationship with God.

Softening our hearts requires humility, repentance, and a willingness to let God work within us. Opening our hearts to God allows His love and grace to transform us, drawing us closer to Him and healing any distance that has formed.

Quote

Never allow your heart to be hard toward God!

Prayer

Lord, keep my heart soft and pure, I pray. Let me always be close to you. Amen.
