01616 - Avoiding Greed

1 min read

Greed rarely announces itself. It whispers that what you have is never enough, that someone else's blessing should have been yours, and that happiness waits behind the next possession. Jesus exposes this deception because possessions can fill houses while leaving hearts painfully empty. Contentment begins when gratitude becomes stronger than appetite.

Guard your heart before greed becomes your master. Money is useful, possessions can be enjoyed, and success can serve good purposes, but none deserves your worship. Generosity breaks greed's grip because giving declares that God, not accumulation, is your security. Hold everything thankfully, steward everything wisely, and share everything willingly.

Luke 12:15 (NASB) says, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed.” Christ's warning reaches beyond wealth into every craving for more. Ask God to expose hidden greed and awaken contentment. You already possess treasure money cannot purchase: Christ, grace, purpose, peace, and eternal life.

Quote

Greed always demands more, but gratitude discovers that God has already given much.

Prayer

Lord, guard my heart from greed and teach me to live with gratitude, generosity, and contentment. Amen.

Action Point

Give something generously today as a deliberate declaration that possessions do not possess you.
