The Right Balance Of Correction

The Christian Canadian clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson is quoted as saying ‘actions guided by love and words guided by truth’ obviously in a sense to bring correction to someone in a situation, particularly children.

Ephesians 6:4 says ‘…do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord’. (NIV)

Correction in any situation requires some choice. Do you shout to push your point, do you intimate without actually saying what you mean, or do you coach someone through the correction needed so they feel empowered and accepting of the correction in the end. I know which one I would rather be on the receiving end of. I’m so glad God is gentle with us for all of our faults, He remains the loving father that brings us eventually into all truth. Be as gentle with those around you as God is with you!
