The Right Kind Of Tolerance

Tolerance, when rightly understood, is not about compromising truth but showing grace while holding firm to God’s Word. As Christians, we’re called to be compassionate without conforming to the circumstances around us. Jesus modelled perfect love—He welcomed the broken, listened with patience, but never watered down his values or His holiness. True tolerance is discerning: it recognises the value of every person while refusing to let go of the values of heaven.

Ephesians 4:2 says, “Be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love” (TLB). Love leads the way, but it doesn’t mean we abandon conviction. The balance of grace and truth is what draws people to Christ—not judgement, but not silence either.

Live with hearts open and eyes fixed on God’s truth. It’s possible to stand firm in faith and still extend kindness that reflects Christ.

Quote

Grace speaks gently, truth stands firmly.

Prayer

Lord, help me to walk in grace and truth, showing love without losing conviction. Amen.

Action Point

Speak with kindness today—even in disagreement—choosing love over offence.
