Watching The World Go By

Sometimes the most spiritual thing we can do is to pause. Jesus Himself often withdrew from the crowds to pray and be refreshed. In our movement, we can forget that stillness is not idleness; it is the ground where faith is renewed. Watching the world go by is not a waste of time when it draws us closer to God.

When we slow down, we notice things we otherwise miss — the colours of the sky, the kindness in a stranger’s smile, the voice of the Holy Spirit reminding us that we are loved. Letting the mind wander in God’s care can awaken creativity, peace, and a more profound sense of gratitude.

“Come aside and rest a while” is more than an invitation; it is a divine instruction. As the psalmist says, “He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams” (Psalm 23:2 TLB).

Quote

Stillness is the soul’s breathing space.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to rest in You and find my strength renewed. Amen.

Action Point

Take ten minutes today to sit quietly and listen to God.
