Why The Ash Cross?

This is the ash cross placed on the forehead during Easter. It is a reminder of our humanity that we are formed from dust and return to dust. The mark is not about shame. It is about honesty. It calls us to remember who we are and who we belong to.
There is something deeply prophetic in that simple sign. The ash cross points to repentance and to hope. It reminds us that sin is real, but grace is greater. As the cross is traced, it echoes the sacrifice of Christ and the invitation to live renewed. It is a moment where humility and redemption meet.
Matthew 4:17 (GNT) says, “Turn away from your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of heaven is near”. The ash cross is not the end. It is the beginning of returning, of realigning, and of walking again with God in truth.
