Insults

Insults can cut deep, but as followers of Christ, we are called to respond differently. Instead of reacting angrily or returning harsh words, we can walk in the opposite spirit, choosing grace and kindness. This isn’t a sign of weakness but of strength—showing that we trust God to defend us and refuse to be drawn into negativity.

Romans 12:21 encourages us, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good” (NIV). By responding with love and forgiveness, we rise above hurtful words and reflect Christ's character. It’s not always easy, but God’s Spirit enables us to honour Him.

When we meet insults with gentleness, we break the cycle of negativity. Our response becomes a testimony of God’s transforming power, turning moments of hurt into opportunities to display His love and grace to others. Just think through the point of fighting back: is it really worth it?

Lord, help me when I am hurt to seek your heart and respond accordingly. Amen.
