How Great Thou Art

There are songs that echo through generations, and “How Great Thou Art” is one of them. Inspired by creation’s majesty and redemption’s beauty, written by Carl Boberg, the hymn calls us to lift our eyes from the everyday and behold the grandeur of God. The psalmist echoes this: “The heavens are telling the glory of God; they are a marvellous display of his craftsmanship.” (Psalm 19:1, TLB). When you stop and look—really look—you’ll see God’s fingerprints everywhere.
The thunder’s roll, the starlit sky, the stillness of a forest—all testify to a Creator who is not only powerful but present. The hymn doesn’t just point to creation, but to the Cross—“And when I think that God, His Son not sparing…” That thought should bring us to our knees in worship.
Let that melody be your reminder today. God is great—truly great—and He is yours.
