00313 - Broken Pieces
Psalm 34:18 says, ‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.’ (NIV) When life’s situations happen, and you feel completely broken, remember that God is at that moment close to you; to console, to comfort you and bring you peace. Sometimes it might feel like the ‘bowl of life’ has smashed into a million pieces across the floor. God then gently comes along, gathers all the pieces, and slowly puts that bowl back together again. Being a Chr

00312 - O Happy Day
In 1992 a film called ‘Sister Act’ came out. The film was based on a true story, a mob-related singer going into police protection in a convent. One of the inspirational things that happened was the formation of a church school choir. You can see in the clip (link below) that the transformation happened because someone believed enough in the kids. Hebrews 10:10 says, ‘Our sins are washed away and we are made clean because Christ gave His own body as a gift to God. He did this

00311 - That’s My King
How do you describe the majesty of Jesus? The video (link below) does just that. How a seasoned preacher describes God in four minutes of pure faith filled creativity. Acts 17:27-28 says, ‘God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ (NIV) The essence of our being, the hope of our future,

00310 - Do The Dream
When the news spread that Jesus was alive and He showed Himself to the disciples and proved He had risen, you could imagine how that fired up the faith of everyone He knew. His short, but poignant moments with various people in the days after His resurrection spurred everyone on. Like Alphas and Cleopas on the Emmaus Road, they said in Luke 24:32, ’“Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”’ (NKJV) When yo

00309 - He Is ALIVE
Imagine coming to the tomb after two days of hopelessness. Mary Magdalene was the first person to engage with the resurrection. The stone was rolled away. Such was the contention with Jesus's followers; a stone was placed so no one could steal His body. Mary then met Jesus once more. Every human now was witnessing the other side of Christ’s victory. Death was no longer the victor, and eternity was all believer’s destination. Everything that Jesus had said was now being lived

00308 Did They Think It Was All Over?
Imagine the day after Jesus was pronounced dead. What did His followers feel? Anger? Mystery? They had spent the last three years following someone who proclaimed He was the Son of God. A reference in Luke 23:56 says, ‘Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.’ (NIV) Society saw Jesus as a criminal punished by death for His crimes. The disciples saw Him as the hope for all of us to have an eternal fut

Good Friday
Only five days before Palm Sunday, Jesus rode a colt (unridden donkey) into Jerusalem. People were waving palms and rejoicing. Yet behind the scenes, there was a growing determination amongst the Pharisees to get rid of the ‘imposter Jesus’ so they could regain control. Isaiah 53:5 says, ‘But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.’ (NLT) We know Jesus’s life on earth was to redeem us to

Only five days before Palm Sunday, Jesus rode a colt (unridden donkey) into Jerusalem. People were waving palms and rejoicing. Isaiah 53:5 says, ‘But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. 00306 - The Last Supper
This was the final passover meal Jesus had with His disciples. The breaking of bread and the drinking of wine, was a prophetic statement of the future relationship Jesus would have with us. Jesus knew his time on earth was at it’s end and he wanted to leave an amazing instruction by example. 1 Corinthians 11:23-25 says ‘on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of m

00305 - Helping People Rejoice
The Oxford Dictionary’s definition of ‘rejoice,’ is to feel or show great joy or delight. Only six people in every 100 of the UK population are church attending Christians. The majority of the people who are neighbours and work colleagues don’t have faith in Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16 one of the shortest verses in the Bible says ‘Rejoice always,’ (NASB) When you have faith, your heart and mind can immediately gravitate back to rejoicing. We can thank God for freedom from the

00304 - Courage and Confidence
When battles come your way, stand firm in the courage and confidence of your faith. God walks with you in life’s journey, so know that He is actively working in the background. Of course we don’t see that work, yet we trust in Him. We might not be able to fix every problem, our resilience comes from Jesus and Him alone. Hebrews 10:35-36 says this 'Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done

00303 - Hand Picked For Paradise
In this Easter week we see the true depth of the offer of salvation. Jesus when He was perceived by the world to be in total defeat on the cross, was recognised by a thief next to him, who proclaimed Jesus as Lord. Luke 23: 42-43 says ‘Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”’ (NIV) How could someone who was being crucified be recognised as a King and make a promise of Pa

00302 - His Triumphal Entry
Imagine the scene as Jesus made His humble way into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. People celebrated by waving large palm leaves - hence the name Palm Sunday. The irony, is that just five days later, the celebration turned to cruxifixction and the hope of the moment seemed lost. When looking back we see how distant society was and still is from God. To one minute be celebrating and heralding the promise of the Messiah and then within days turning their back on the Christ,

00301 - Lessen The Suffering
Dictionaries describe suffering as distress, hardship or pain. When something happens in life that brings on suffering, the consequences can be life changing. It might be the loss of a loved one, the displacement of where you lived because of war; suffering is never easy. We suffer as a result of the failure in our relationship with God. Our collective sin took the world on a collision course with distress; sometimes through wrong choices. I often think God looks at our actio

00300 - A Question Of Celebration
The moments of celebration we have in life become anchor points for the whole of life’s journey. It could be a 30th, 40th or 50th birthday; 30 years of marriage or the arrival of a new baby. We can catch up with people we haven’t seen for a while and have a laugh. Numbers 6:24-26 says ‘The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.’ (ESV) The news we hear on a dail

00299 - When God Takes Notice
Does God take notice of the time taken watching TV? Or our nice homes, jobs, social media accounts? Is He impressed by our titles, contacts, even our ability? The answer very gently put is no. When you scan through the Bible, there are indicators of what catches God’s attention; when we take care of the widows and the poor; when we look after children who can’t defend themselves. Submitting in obedience to Him, praying and seeking His face more than we seek the world around u

00298 - How Huge Is This?
One of God’s creations is the Blue Whale (link in action point). They are social, air breathing mammals, they feed their young their own milk. They can live unto 200 years, their brains weigh 9kg’s. Blue Whales communicate through song. They can grow to 110 feet long (the length of three buses) and weigh more than 300,000 pounds, which ironically is the same amount of plastic that enters the ocean every nine minutes. Scientists estimate there were once 350,000 blue whales, no

00297 - Own The Street You Walk On
We live on a street with a mixture of 250 homes, hairdressers, takeaways and charity shops. The street has seen better days since out of town shopping centres started. Wherever we have lived, we’ve tried to make a spiritual impact on the street, leaving things when we moved in a better way than we first found them. It takes a lot of prayer and conversation to build relationships. We’ve prayed for shops selling drugs to close - they did, then a new shop opened which is out and

00296 - Climb Every Mountain
When Kechi Okwuchi was 16 years old, she was in a plane crash, which took the lives of 107 of the 109 people on board. Sixty children were on the flight from her school; she was the only school surviver. Her burns were so extensive she was told she had a 30% chance of survival. In our christian walk, we have to ask ourselves what are we prepared to do in order to get closer to God? When everything gets stripped away, there are sometimes only two choices in life, give up or mo

00295 - Caffeine Withdrawal
Found in coffee, tea, chocolate, energy drinks and even chewing gum. Caffeine increases the activity of your nervous system; increasing the circulation of cortisol and adrenaline. Both can make you feel good and more alert. It will also increase anxiety, and can lead to headaches, restlessness and insomnia. When you remove caffeine from your diet it can take nine whole days for your system to settle down. People complain of severe headaches and mood swings etc. 1 Corinthians
