Shock

Updated: Feb 23

Experiencing any shock can be overwhelming, shaking us both physically and emotionally. It’s a sudden, jarring moment that leaves us vulnerable and uncertain. During this initial stage, it’s crucial to remember God’s comforting presence. Psalm 46:1 (ESV) says, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

As the shock subsides and reality sets in, feelings of fear, anxiety, and confusion often follow. This is a time to pray to God, seeking His peace and guidance. Sharing our emotions with trusted friends or family can also support us, helping us process what has happened.

The final stage is recovery, where we rebuild and move forward. Healing takes time, but with faith, we can trust that God is with us every step, guiding us. By holding onto hope and relying on God’s strength, we can overcome the shock and emerge more vital in our faith and resilience.

Quote

Shock is a part of life; recovery is part of your future.

Prayer

Lord, help me through my pain, heal me from my shock, I pray. Amen.

Action Point

When you have had a shock, rest, process it, and pray through it all.
