When Parents Get Old

As parents grow older, the rhythm of life changes. The hands that once guided us now grow weaker, and the voices that once instructed us may become quieter. Scripture calls us to honour them, not only in our youth but throughout their entire journey. This honour is expressed through patience and care, recognising the sacrifices they made for us.

Caring for parents is a reflection of God’s love. By showing compassion, we reveal the heart of Christ, who taught us to serve one another in humility. Small acts of kindness, a listening ear, or simply being present can bring dignity and comfort to their lives.

The Bible teaches, “Honour your father and your mother, so that you may live a long time in the land” (Exodus 20:12 GNT). When we bless our parents, we align ourselves with God’s promise and walk in the fullness of His design for family.
