00254 - Avoid The Drip Drip Of Bad News
We are saturated by bad news these days. Using social media, news stories can circulate the world within minutes of an event happening and with a world our size, things happen all the time. Bad news saturates us these days. Having our brain subjected to story after story, picture after bad picture. You can end up feeling numb, detached from reality, always expecting the worst and having a gloomy outlook, feeling down and depressed most times. John 10:10 says ‘The thief’s purp

00253 - Finishing Strong
There’s nothing worse than seeing someone start somethings and then see their interest in it wain over the subsequent weeks. It is as if apathy has become their best friend and failure their final destination. 2 Corinthians 8:11 says ‘Having started the ball rolling so enthusiastically, you should carry this project through to completion just as gladly, giving whatever you can out of whatever you have. Let your enthusiastic idea at the start be equalled by your realistic acti

00252 - The Value Of A Letter
Back in the days before emails, sms messages and WhatsApp, you either met and spoke with a friend, which meant your outlook was local, or would write a letter and pop it in the post if they lived further afield. What was common place then (Letter Writing) is rare now and what was rare then (the internet) is common place now. Ironically, these days, someone receiving and then reading a letter means more to them than a hundred emails. By doing this kind act, you would be as Pau

00251 - Taxes
Most of us pay income tax, VAT, national insurance, council tax, road tax, tv license, inheritance tax, stamp duty, tax on alcohol and tobacco as well as air passenger tax. While not all of these apply to us, we all pay a lot of tax! Let’s get our focus right and know God does not tax us. It’s the government's role to extract as much money as possible from you to enable the country to fulfil the things we voted for. Even though we are often left with about a third of what w

00250 - This Too Shall Pass
What ever happens in life, the immediacy of the impact of it, WILL diminish over time. You will no doubt have to make some course corrections, make some changes here and there, depending on the problem itself. We are of course talking about our earthly life, out shadowed by the eternity we’ll spend with Him. When that day comes, there will be far less problems, less things to worry about. In heaven we’ll be worshipping, praising and focussed on God. What a day that will be! I

00249 - Pursuing Revival
The idea that revival can be achieved through a course or qualification is ill-conceived. It is something from God that touches a nation and is birthed in concern, deep desire, prayer and sacrifice. The matters of every day life are prioritised behind yearning for God to come and visit. I would suggest that in our comfort, we have not sought deeply enough for a visitation from God. Of course you may disagree, but then ask yourself, have you done enough to invite God to your r

00248 - Riches, Relevance And Relationships
A challenge for a leader who is caught up in any of these three words. The temptations of money, limelight and affairs are very real. There have been many public examples of well known ministers who’s lives have gone off the rails for any of these temptations. To combat these temptations, 1) Live off a monthly budget, don’t change it. 2) When affirmation comes, keep your feet on the ground and don’t pander to it. 3) Never put yourself in a compromised position, always be acco

00247 - The Importance Of Conversation
Ever noticed how much better you feel after a good ‘natter’ with a friend as you aimlessly follow wherever the conversation leads? When you do this, endorphins are released in your brain, which help you feel happy and peaceful. Always make sure you have friends around you, that know you and who you can trust! Conversation also stimulates your memory, and sets the days and weeks ahead of you on a more positive direction. We basically need conversation to have a fulfilled life.

00246 - Seven Years For Every Year We Live
Most animals around don’t have our life expectancy. Of course some buck that trend. Dog’s for example age at 7 times our rate, which probably explains how energetic they are in their early years. I’ve always wondered if the short but full life span of animals around us, help us understand our own mortality, the fact that everything has a lifespan and an end to life. Philippians 4:6-7 says ‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and

00245 - Extending A Hand Of Friendship
Our world is constantly changing and many of us might have noticed new faces moving into our community. Those faces might be from another nation. We should welcome the opportunity to make new friends. Different cultures and languages are great fun, as you get to know them and they get to know you. There are no strangers in God’s Kingdom and in particular God wants us to help, widows, orphans and refugees. Matthew 25:40 says ‘The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever yo

00244 - Moving House
Moving house can often be one of the most stressful and yet rewarding things we do in our lifetime. There are memories in the house we leave and there will be many more to come in the our new home. The preparation of packing, exchanging contracts, organising the van and of course getting any immediate work done when you move in; can be quite chaotic. Have you ever thought about praying through each step of the way? If you are not moving yourself, you could be a prayer partner

00243 - Procrastinating
The dictionary definition is ‘the action of delaying or postponing something.’ What I find funny here is that the definition uses the verb ‘action’ for doing nothing. In reality, it takes more energy and time to do nothing than getting the job done in the first place! Let’s face it, most of us avoid doing the things we don’t want to do, which often causes us some stress. We know that things pile up and still need to be done. The real trouble comes when peoples expectations ar

00242 - Feeling Worthy
Most of the Christians I know feel ‘unworthy’ about some aspects of their walk with God. It might be prayer, worship, gifts of the Spirit or just blaming themselves because they don’t feel confident enough. The idea of feeling worthy is that God is happy with us, that we’ve done enough to make him happy. There’s good news… God knows you are worthy! He sent His only son to ensure that. Knowing that, it’s just a case of practice makes perfect. The one who is willing us on is o

00241 - When The Author Reads Us
I read a quote recently by Pastor Paul Hallam which said, ‘The Bible is the only book where you have an audience with the Author each time you read it.’ WOW, what a quote. Reading the Bible makes your soul look at the mirror of Biblical Truth. There is so much life advice contained in its pages. The more you read, the more you realise that God is reading us, helping us to work through our issues and replacing those issues with sound Biblical ways to live life. 2 Timothy 3:6-1

00240 - The Oceans
The National Ocean Service of America defines our oceans as seven in total. Arctic, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, North Pacific, South Pacific, Indian and Southern Oceans; In history these were all called ‘The Seven Seas’. Seventy one percent of our planet’s surface is water therefore 29 percent is land. As we live on land, we focus more on it than the water around us, the deepest is the Mariana Trench some 11,022 meters below sea level. In the oceans there are thousands of

00239 - The Story Of Mr Genor
This remarkable testimony of faithful evangelism is incredible. The link is below, it’s only nine minutes long, please do listen. What I find amazing is that Mr Genor laboured for 40 years, witnessing to ten people per day. His love for Jesus led to Mr Genor sharing his faith with 146,100 people. That simple direct invitation to Christ, led to thousands of people finding faith, triggered by a moment with Mr Genor. They then went on to lead hundreds of thousands of others to C

00238 - Have Some Fun
Cancel your plans, book a day off, change your normal routine and HAVE SOME FUN. It might be a movie, a walk, a catch up with some friends or the more ridiculous, an open swim in the sea!! The point is, there can be so many challenges in life, we just need a rest from stress and enjoy a treat, a sneaky pudding, most definitely a belly laugh with some friends. Life is meant for living not trudging through, so make the most of it and do something different. Let’s remember John

00237 - Hate
To be told ‘I hate you’ or to say that to someone can bring distance in relationship and silence to conversation. If you are on the receiving end of that, you need to know, ‘there is always something behind the something’. Let’s not forget, hate left to its own devices corrodes the person that carries it. The only way to defeat hate is with love. It’s always easy to say something hurtful in retaliation. We all know that’s not right. No matter how hurtful someone is, bring the

00236 - Informed Intercession
In his book ‘Informed Intercession’, George Otis lays out the need for spiritual mapping and strategic prayer, for the sake of seeing transformation in our region. Spiritual mapping is basically researching the issues your region faces and to strategic prayer from that, speaks for itself. When you find out what the crime, drugs, domestic violence and levels of deprivation are around you, the information helps to immediately pray in a different way. The research literally inf

00235 - Trust Speaks
Trust takes a long time to develop with a person and seconds to destroy if you do something under handed in that relationship. You can be from a totally opposite ideological perspective, but trust will make room for your opinion and will also ensure your voice is heard. It’s wonderful that we can trust in a Saviour who wants what is best for us. If we could be as trustworthy with our relationships as the one we have with Jesus, life would be much simpler. The Bible says in Ps
