00087 - Focus On His Presence
How do we know when we are in God’s presence or not? This could be a difficult question, but it might have a straightforward answer. Exodus 33:14 promises, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest’ (NIV). If God’s presence is with us when we go, we must ask the question of what could distract us from it along the way? Do we set any time aside to just pray and be with God? Is there an appointment with God in your diary? Have we determined that He is a such a spe

00086 - The Quiet Voice Of God
1 Kings 19:12 says ‘After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper’ (NIV). Life can be so loud, so full of noise, pressure, and stress. Companies trying to sell us things constantly, it’s as if we are caught in a cycle of who shouts the loudest wins our attention. Fortunately, these are not spiritual problems. We should remember that we are spiritual beings with an earthly body. We cannot spend eternity with God an

00085 - Energy Crisis
Everyone is worried about how much they pay for Gas and Electricity. When people must choose between food, rent or mortgage payments or whether to heat their homes and watch TV, something is wrong with the system. Energy companies at the same time are reporting record profits, all of which points to weak government regulation of energy. Philippians 4:19 says ‘And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus’. (NKJV). Do three things, 1) p

00084 - Let The Children Come To Jesus
Seeing children sing a song, read the bible, or pray, brings joy to the heart. As it says in Proverbs 22:6 ‘Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it’ (NLT). Wise words for any parent, grand parent, or Sunday school teacher. In a world where the moral compass of the teachings of Jesus are so easily ignored, it’s good to instil truth from an early age. There are 38 parables recorded by Matthew, Mark & Luke which teach on fundamen

00083 - Jabs, Jabs And More Jabs
It seems that the older you get the more jabs you have and with pandemics on the rise, the chance of vaccination is much higher. Of course, when it comes vaccination the debate rages around whether it’s safe or not and whether it’s even ethical, with some factions of Christendom, suggesting it’s all one big conspiracy. Most people want to live a long, productive, and fruitful life, so whether it’s a Flu jab, B12, a vaccination or something like insulin, the point of these int

00082 - Getting fit
It’s easy to be persuaded to watch a movie, eat the snacks we enjoy, and become a couch potato if we do too much of it. Covid taught many of us, that it was easy to indulge when we had time on our hands, then difficult to get back on track. You may be feeling lethargic, sleep patterns out of sync, so now is the time to take some steps to sort it out. Romans 12:2 says, ‘Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind’ (NIV). God kno

00081 - Forgive Yourself
Romans 8:1 says ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus’ (NIV). When the bible is clear about forgiveness, why is it that we often find it so difficult to forgive ourselves. One of the toughest journeys in life is the lonely road of self-guilt and isolation after we do something wrong and then spend the next decade beating ourselves up about it. We should remember that Jesus went to the cross, to wipe away all our sin, to give us a clean sla

00080 - Public Speaking
There are exceptional public speakers around us, whether at a Sunday service or speaking at a conference. Those who have crafted a message, investing themselves in writing, praying it through and of course in the delivery are to be honoured and admired. Colossians 4:6 says, ‘Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person’ . (ESV). Others amongst us might quiver at the knees if asked to speak. Yet that nervousne

00079 - We Are One Body United
With more than one third of the planet Christian, it’s amazing to think that God doesn’t just know our names, He is interested in every part of our lives. Christianity is the most connected and most influential group of people on the planet. 1 Corinthians 12:12-14 says ‘Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body – whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free –

00078 - He Never Thought They Would Fight Back
When Russia annexed the Crimea in 2014, Ukraine put up little resistance, neither did the global community. Testing the resolve of his neighbouring country and former U.S.S.R. territory, Putin had since been building his war machine, with the intent of completely occupying the country, eight short years later. Jesus faced with his own conflict in Matthew 26:52 said, ‘“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword’. (NI

00077 - Take That Step Of Faith
Hebrews 11:1-2 in the Message says this. ‘The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It’s our handle on what we can’t see. The act of faith is what distinguished our ancestors, set them above the crowd’. The fact that we as Christians have faith at our disposal is a testament to God’s provision in our lives. Yet, we often pose questions about faith, without exercising it. What

00076 - Be Thou My Vision
The hymn is attributed to the blind Irish monk, Dallan Forgaill, a 6th-century Irish monk who ministered in the wake of Patrick’s evangelisation and church planting. As he remembered Patrick’s missionary efforts and zeal, he wrote a poem, containing these famous words. For generations, the poem became part of the Irish monastic tradition, used as a prayer, and chanted in the Old Irish language. It wasn’t until 1905 that the song was translated by Mary Byrne, and it was 1912 b

00075 - Pray Together, Stay Together
A recent study reported by GEB showed, couples who attend church together and pray together have a stronger relationship than those who don’t. In fact, researchers showed that the strongest predictor of relationship satisfaction was shared prayer. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says ‘Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble (NLT)’. When was the last time

00074 - Success Or Failure In Under A Second
One of the most competitive areas of sport is the 100m final of the Olympics. Athletes take four full years of training for an event where the 1st place winner and the 4th place position are decided in way less than one second. Imagine training for all that time with such a slim margin of error. The diet, fitness level and mental focus of the event is probably amongst the highest level in human attainment. Philippians 3:14 says ‘I press on toward the goal to win the prize f

00073 - Friends You Can Rely On
It’s likely that many of us will only be able to count on one hand the friends who walk with us through the whole of life’s journey. Friendships can have their challenges; differences of opinion, offense and sometimes our own actions bring annoyance or hurt. The friendships that last, see beyond the moment and still walk with you. Proverbs 27:9 says, ‘Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice’ (NIV). A go

00072 - Be Wise This Payday
A third of people in the United Kingdom live one payday to the next. That means no savings, while holding a fair amount of debt. As Christians we are taught that we should 1) Tithe 10%, 2) Avoid Debt, 3) Save 10% and 4) Live off the rest. Proverbs 21:20 in the Message version says ‘Valuables are safe in a wise person’s home; fools put it all out for yard sales’. The point is to be considered with what you decide to do. Don’t make rash decisions where your impulse to want some

00071 - Praying For The Next Prime Minister
Let’s face it, all Prime Ministers come and go. The longest they can stay is two terms (8 years). Usually, the incumbent has persuaded the public that what they are offering at the time is ‘the solution’ to the Nation’s woes. We must consider God’s influence and our role in prayer. Luke 12:48 says ‘…From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked’. (NIV) Most leaders like the power and in

00070 - Breathe This Public Holiday
When we have public holidays, people tend to go into overdrive on DIY projects, shopping trips, painting things, and not doing what the holiday was designed for – rest. We can often get so busy on that day of rest; we go back to our normal activity even more tired than before we began. Matthew 11:28 says ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest’. It’s not rocket science to listen to your mind and body groan at you when you are doing too much.

00069 - Are We Desperate For God’s Word ?
In 1792 a young girl called Mary Jones gave her life to Jesus, she was eight. By 15 she had learned to read and yearned for a Bible of her own. The closest Bible to her was 2 miles away and the closest one for sale in Bala was a 26 mile journey. Having saved for six years, she set off barefoot one morning to walk the 26 miles to purchase one. Her determination led Thomas Charles (who sold her the Bible) to setup the Religious Tract Society that supplied Bibles to Wales, thi

00068 - Pray For Your Pastor
Let’s face it being a Pastor is one of the most demanding roles out there. Trying to keep everyone happy, trying to prepare one or more messages each week. Facilitating weddings, funerals, baptisms. Doing hospital visits and outreach, often on a low salary with lots of criticism and not much thanks. We should honour our leaders, we should be supportive and encouraging, we should lift them up and not pull them down. When was the last time we did something nice for the leaders
