00101 - Perfect Dreams – Real World
We live in a world where the media are constantly pushing messages to us that other people live better lives than we do, have better things, look more stylish and are more successful. The adage comes to mind, ‘The grass is always greener on the other side’. The reality of course is often quite different to the perfect dream. It is absolutely fine if you don’t live this perfect dream. We are after all imperfect beings who God is shaping as we go through life. It says in Galat

00100 - Formula One
You might not be interested in racing cars, but have you thought how much team puts themselves through to get victory. From the design of the car, to inventing new technology, to planning the race and of course the pit stop crew, who can refuel the car and change all four tyres in under five seconds, quite amazing! What if we approached reaching our community with the zeal of a formula one team? What if we got a few Christians together and said for one year, we’ll pray, clean

00099 - Coffee With God
It’s always a nice feeling when we’ve met up with a friend for a chat and a coffee, catching up on things and spoiling yourself a little. Have you ever thought about doing this with your best friend – Jesus. Taking time out, reading a passage of scripture and meditating on it, while also having a nice coffee can enrich your life so much. The first part of James 4:8 says, ‘And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you’ (TLB). It takes 15 minutes to have a nice cof

00098 - A Mile With Jesus
We should think about prayer walking as part of our normal routine as a Christian. To declare and speaking blessing over our street or community is a wonderful spiritual service to those around us. Proverbs 11:10-11 says, ‘When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices; when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy. Through the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is destroyed’ (NIV). It’s a tug of war. If we don’t pray and declare the

00097 - The Queen Meets Her King
Hearing the news of the Queens passing, bore the fulfilment of a promise she made at 21 from a broadcast in Cape Town, that in becoming Monarch, she would faithfully serve her country for the whole of her life. She did just that for over 70 years. She was the leader of the commonwealth some 54 countries, and 2.5 billion people called her Queen, she also undertook more than 21,000 engagements during her reign. Romans 13:1 says ‘There is no authority except from God, and those

00096 - You Are Affirmed In Christ
Ephesians 1:4 says, ‘For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love’ (NIV). What joy that scripture is, that you have been chosen, even before the creation of the world, God knew your name. Whatever you are going through right now, know that God is with you, He loves and cares for you, and wants what’s best for you. Imagine if you are affirmed in Christ, nothing much can compete with that. Even if those that you seek af

00095 - 4:13
We all will have a favourite scripture, something that we have walked with through our Christian lives. One such scripture is Philippians 4:13, which says ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me’ (NKJV). Have you noticed that in times of need it’s as if that favourite scripture pops up in all sorts of places? A poster at a Bus stop, something in a video we see. It might be the numbers of the verse correspond to some number we regularly see, it just catches our

00094 - The Leaking Bucket
Consider the leaders around us who regularly bring fresh messages to encourage us and lift us up in our walk with the Lord. To be able to consistently produce new material is quite a feat. Their output only happens when the have sufficient input to write. 2 Timothy 2:15 says, ‘Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth’ (NIV). The task of writing is like a bucket that has holes

00093 - Get Motivated
Covid has allowed most of us to fall out of our normal routine, and drift into endless hours of TV watching, letting lethargy take hold of us like never before. Romans 12:11-13 give us some great advice ‘Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fuelled and aflame. Be alert servants of the Master, cheerfully expectant. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Help needy Christians; be inventive in hospitality’ (MSG). The average person watches 4 hours of TV per day, which is 1,46

00092 - Always Look For Joy
The local elections were at hand, I needed to vote, so I trundled along to the community centre and queued. I got busy doing emails on my phone and didn’t realise the line split off into two, one room for voting and the other room for weight watchers. I heard some chuckles and then realised I was in the wrong line. I guess they laughed because I was 65 kg’s with a physique that resembled a golf club. It was hysterical in the end, who would have thought voting was so much fu

00091 - Don’t Be Too Hard On Yourself
Most of us will know that sense of feeling terrible after saying or doing something we shouldn’t. If what you did was intentionally malicious, then it’s time to go and say sorry, learn from your mistake and be intentional about not doing it again. You’ll never look good, making someone look bad! If the offence created was an accident, guilt still comes to pay us a visit, remember what the Bible says…. Romans 8:1 ‘Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in C

00090 - Time For Date Night
If you’re single, encourage the couples around you to maintain date night. If you are in a relationship, then, spending regular quality time together will keep your relationship, fresh and interesting. Ephesians 4:2 says, ‘Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love’ (NIV). That might be harder to do some days than others. After time relationships can get stale, can need stirring up again. If you don’t spend time together tensions can also ru

00088 - Consider Your Street
If we all sought to introduce everyone on our street to Jesus. None of our Churches would be big enough for the crowds. Yet in our modern society, we leave the work of evangelism to ‘someone better qualified’. The street we live on is the closest opportunity for Christ we have. Jesus said the second greatest command in Matthew 22:37-40 ‘….love your neighbour as yourself’ (NIV). In reality, most of us don’t even know the names of all of neighbours. The place we all could start

00089 - Understanding Loss
The loss of a loved one, can be one of the biggest jolts in life we bear. In the moment, you need to lean on family and friends, take some time out and gather yourself, it’s OK to grieve. Loss is experienced by everyone and at some point, everyone will pass-on, it’s the end of the cycle of life. Psalm 147:3 says ‘He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds’ (ESV). That’s not to say we should forget, we should in fact let our memories celebrate the person we’ve lost.
